BVWS Updates

BVWS Events and Covid 19

The BVWS committee and event organisers are continuing to monitor the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

We have a full lineup of 2022 events in our Events Diary and we are hopeful that these will be able to go ahead as planned.

However there may be some UK Government restrictions or rules in place such as social distancing, face coverings or track-and-trace that we will follow to ensure everyone's safety.

We will update this page and the Events Diary as dates and any new arrangements are confirmed.

BVWS AGM

The 2022 BVWS AGM will take place online on 6th March. Full details will be sent to all paid-up members with the bulletins and/or by email nearer the time.

If you have not yet renewed your membership please do so ASAP at membership.bvws.org.uk.
Details were included with the Winter 2021 Bulletin.

British Vintage Wireless Society

The British Vintage Wireless Society (BVWS) is a society of over 1200 World-wide members sharing a common interest in the preservation and communication of technical and historical data, and the preservation and restoration of Vintage radio and related equipment.

We publish a quarterly Bulletin containing a wide range of restoration and historical articles, photographs of events, Society news etc. This is a high quality publication. Many earlier bulletins are available on this website.

We hold regular meetings around the UK. Our main event takes place at Harpenden twice a year, with smaller meetings held in Wiltshire, Cheshire and East Sussex. These meetings have stalls selling vintage radio and related items, and often also include a bring-and-buy stall, working displays of vintage equipment, historical presentations and an auction. Refreshments are available at reasonable prices. Take a look at the events diary page for current details.

The Society regularly produces supplements for members, consisting of technical, historic and documentary interest. Over the past few years we have produced (with Copyright permission) CD-ROMs of the Trader Service sheets 1 to 1899, all BVWS Bulletins no longer in print and all editions of 405 Alive magazine, several DVDs containing historic films, plus a number of other paper supplements and our own history book. These are all free to members.

Our Society relies on new membership, new Bulletin articles and new ideas to enable it to flourish and secure its future for generations to come. If you have an interest in collecting and restoring old equipment, or just looking at or listening to old radios, televisions or Hi-Fi, then why not consider becoming a BVWS member.

An application form can be found on the join the BVWS page. You could also contact the Membership Secretary who will be happy to send you a sample Bulletin and answer any questions about the Society.
