BVWS Event Updates

Royal Wootton Bassett Swapmeet and Auction - Sunday 5th December

We can confirm that this event is going ahead as planned.

Stallholders entry for setup at 9:00am. General Visitor entry from 9:30am.

The event is open to BVWS members AND non-members, but you must be a paid up member to transact in the auction.

The auction will start at 12:30pm and there are some really nice items in this one.

In the interests of COVID-19 safety for everyone, we will be supplying face masks and hand sanitizer at the front entrance and we would politely ask that people use them when moving around the hall as it can get quite crowded. It is entirely your choice and your decision to use or not use a face mask and that will be respected. The ventilation in the hall will be arranged so that air can flow through doors and windows. However once everyone is seated for the auction we will be able to close the doors.

The auction catalogue and photos are now available HERE.

BVWS Events and Covid 19

The BVWS committee and event organisers are continuing to monitor the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

We will update this page and the Events Diary as dates and any new arrangements are confirmed.

British Vintage Wireless Society

The British Vintage Wireless Society (BVWS) is a society of over 1200 World-wide members sharing a common interest in the preservation and communication of technical and historical data, and the preservation and restoration of Vintage radio and related equipment.

We publish a quarterly Bulletin containing a wide range of restoration and historical articles, photographs of events, Society news etc. This is a high quality publication. Many earlier bulletins are available on this website.

We hold regular meetings around the UK. Our main event takes place at Harpenden twice a year, with smaller meetings held in Wiltshire, Cheshire and East Sussex. These meetings have stalls selling vintage radio and related items, and often also include a bring-and-buy stall, working displays of vintage equipment, historical presentations and an auction. Refreshments are available at reasonable prices. Take a look at the events diary page for current details.

The Society regularly produces supplements for members, consisting of technical, historic and documentary interest. Over the past few years we have produced (with Copyright permission) CD-ROMs of the Trader Service sheets 1 to 1899, all BVWS Bulletins no longer in print and all editions of 405 Alive magazine, several DVDs containing historic films, plus a number of other paper supplements and our own history book. These are all free to members.

Our Society relies on new membership, new Bulletin articles and new ideas to enable it to flourish and secure its future for generations to come. If you have an interest in collecting and restoring old equipment, or just looking at or listening to old radios, televisions or Hi-Fi, then why not consider becoming a BVWS member.

An application form can be found on the join the BVWS page. You could also contact the Membership Secretary who will be happy to send you a sample Bulletin and answer any questions about the Society.
