BVWS Updates

RetroTechUK - 17th May 2026

Sunday 17th May is RetroTechUK at Sports Connexion, Leamington Road, Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Coventry, CV8 3FL.

Roughly 160 tables have been booked, and it promises to be a packed and lively show, as usual. Stall-holder entry is 7.30am, early entry 9am (£25), general entry 10.30am (£10), show closes at 3pm. No advance ticketing, all tickets on the door. Cash only.

This year there will be a large exhibition in an adjacent hall, celebrating 50 years of the BVWS and 100 years of Television. Lots of vintage TVs and other technology in operation from a number of different exhibitors. Chris Wood will post more details here in due course.

The Broadcast Engineering Conservation Group will have a display at the side of the main sales hall and should be bringing an outside broadcast vehicle for display outside.

The very popular Dulwich Wireless Museum Bring & Buy stall will be in the exhibition hall this year.

The caterers upgraded last year to a very smart purpose built "shipping container" kitchen, and their food was excellent. Look for them at the far end of the front of the sports complex.

Free car parking on-site. If you arrive at busier times, there will be 100 spaces of overflow parking available in front of the 'Keller Civil Engineering' offices on the A423 Oxford Road, just behind the venue - there is a pathway through to save walking by the road.

Please see the RetroTechUK website page for full information.

Stallholder Booking Forms

Previously A4 printed flyers for stall-holder table bookings at events have been included with the Bulletins. Over 1200 flyers are printed for each event and depending on the number stalls available at that meeting, only 15 to 35 of them ever get used.

At a time when we are conscious of material wastage and looking to reduce costs, flyers will no longer be included in with the Bulletin (other than for RetroTechUK and Royal Wootton Bassett); instead they will be available for prospective stall-holders to download and print here.

If you do not have a printer, please contact the event organiser (details on the relevant form) who will post a form to you.

British Vintage Wireless Society

The British Vintage Wireless Society (BVWS) is a society of over 1000 World-wide members sharing a common interest in the preservation and communication of technical and historical data, and the preservation and restoration of Vintage radio and related equipment.

We publish a quarterly Bulletin containing a wide range of restoration and historical articles, photographs of events, Society news etc. This is a high quality publication. Many earlier bulletins are available on this website.

We hold regular meetings around the UK. These meetings have stalls selling vintage radio and related items, and often also include a bring-and-buy stall, working displays of vintage equipment, historical presentations and an auction. Refreshments are available at reasonable prices. Take a look at the events diary page for current details.

The Society regularly produces supplements for members, consisting of technical, historic and documentary interest. Over the past several years we have produced (with Copyright permission) CD-ROMs of the Trader Service sheets 1 to 1899, all BVWS Bulletins no longer in print and all editions of 405 Alive magazine, several DVDs containing historic films, plus a number of other paper supplements and our own history book. These are all free to members.

Our Society relies on new membership, new Bulletin articles and new ideas to enable it to flourish and secure its future for generations to come. If you have an interest in collecting and restoring old equipment, or just looking at or listening to old radios, televisions or Hi-Fi, then why not consider becoming a BVWS member.

An application form can be found on the join the BVWS page. You could also contact the Membership Secretary who will be happy to answer any questions about the Society.

Video of British Vintage Wireless Society Events

This video should give you a flavour of what happens at our swapmeet and auction events. The footage is from Royal Wootton Bassett and Biggleswade but represents all our events. Turn on your speakers and enjoy!
